Lea Ann Slotkin (she/her)
Artist + Coach for Creatives

I want to be an example of what is possible for creative entrepreneurs.

Long Form Bio:
I became interested in coaching over five years ago, after a coach helped me make the decision to leave a corporate career in fashion in order to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming an artist. My business now combines the two things I love most, creating and selling my art, and coaching fellow creatives to do the same. I help artists to be as enthusiastic about building their creative business or practice as they are about creating their art. I am here to debunk the ideology of the “starving artist.”

As an artist, I work with acrylic paint and mixed media, more specifically pastel, graphite, ink, vintage ephemera, bits of things that evoke a sense of nostalgia. I build my final vision from the ground up, which means I spend the good part of my process on background layers, I have been told this gives my work a lot of energy and visual excitement. I enjoy leaving little hints of magic peeking through; to leave space for wonder and reflection about one's own story. I love color and don't shy away from it. I think my many years in fashion helped refine my palette and pattern mixing, and for that I am grateful.

My go-to subject matter is mostly nature-inspired and how individual interpretation is as unique as a fingerprint. I find that endlessly fascinating. People often describe my work as 'joyful' and I am A-OK with that.
