Biography - Frank Korb (b. 1972)
Frank Korb’s abstractions focus on the formal elements and principles of art and the push and pull of relationships throughout his compositions. Korb begins his works through the act of laying down bible pages or other paper sources to build a ground for the work and to add real texture and text in the works. Building up transparent and opaque layers of colors, shapes, and additive texture, he considers the dynamics of the space in the picture plane and works towards a sense of balance, harmony, and other approaches towards unity. While the personal intent with which Korb begins each work is important, he is equally concerned with the viewer's interpretation regarding the imagery and relationships within his work.
Korb earned his Bachelor of Fine Art in graphic design and K-12 art education from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and his Masters in Art in Visual Studies from Cardinal Stritch University. He is a high school arts educator, a former board member and Youth Art Month Chairperson of the Wisconsin Art Education Association, a member of the Milwaukee Artist Resource Network. Frank has exhibited throughout the country in group exhibitions and arts performance events. Korb is represented by Gallery NK in Washington D.C. He lives and works in Burlington, Wisconsin, with his wife Julie. Please visit his website at www.FrankKorb.com and his CV at https://bit.ly/KorbArtCV.
